thanks guys i appreciate the CC....i am just having fun taking pictures right now and figuring out how to use the camera...i did some night pictures the other day and will upload them also...keep in mind all shots are STOOC....i havent played with PP yet lol

Nice for your first shots. I agree with above -- a 50mm prime is a great go-to. You can get a 50 f/1.8 for under $100.

Also, like LNJ said - don't get rid of your kit lens, learn as much as you can with it before spending loads of $$ on a new lens (i.e. 70-200). There are places out there / stores - sites / that let you rent/try a lens before buying. I am an impulse buyer and am trying my best to hold back when it comes to buying gear, it's so exciting to get something new and try it out ... so I'm renting before I invest.
