Bought a Circular Polarizer a while back and finally had some time to play with it today. It sure does make a difference but I'm not sure if I'm using it quite right. Anyway thought I would share a few that I took of my Jeep with it.

I did notice that when using it the camera wanted to blow out the red paint pretty bad so I had to bring that down a lot in post.

All where taken with my 7D and Tamron 17-50 f2.8 and a Hoya Circular Polarizer

Great time of day to do these shots - love the contrasting environment in which you did the work. #1 & #3 are my favorites. I like the way you worked that curved path into the composition.

On the first, perhaps crop just a little bit of the sky out at the top - very minor issue. And for both, use an exposure adjustment layer to bring out a little bit more grill detail. A CPL can really add a lot to an image. It's most effective when you are at a 90 degree angle to the sun and rotate it for maximum effect, but will also work to varying degrees at the the other angles. Thanks for sharing. - Stu

Thank you Stu for the compliments and the information. I will put that info to use the next time I go out to get some more shots with the CPL.

You're very welcome SVT - you've got some terrific scenery out there; enjoy the jeep in good health for many years.

It looks like you took all the highlights out of the side in #1. Look at #2. Don't those highlights add some 'life' to the shot?

Hmm I've always heard that reflections were bad?

Bad reflections are bad. (Trees, buildings, light poles, people...)
Good reflections are good! (Highlights which define the shape of the body.) ;)

Really like the shots, thanks to you now I need to go pick up a CPL earlier than I was planning to.

Love no "bad reflexions"
