Picture Styles and Copyrights/Licences ?

I was wondering if there are copyrights/Licences on picture styles ?
I have some picture styles I have collected from the web, but I don't know if I have the permission to put them online for other people.

Any information ?

I have been wondering about that myself ... I have collected about 75 or so myself. I found several were the same style, with different names, and I have tried to weed the duplicates out.

I've never heard of any such thing, but then I've never delved into the PS Editor and such. But Canon does provide them for the download without any terms, right?

Hmmmmm. I don't use Picture Styles at all, so really don't know about them specifically.

With most I bet you agreed to licensing terms before you were able to complete the download. I know you do with most Canon softwares. Better go back and check there for redistribution rights.

Likely if you were to burn a copy for a friend, it would be in violation but really wouldn't be a big deal. (OTOH, Disney might pursue you... Or Sony... they're both highly protective of their copyrights)

If you were to post a copy on your own website for people to download, perhaps to encourage traffic to your site, then it would more likely be a violation of the agreement you signed.

You could probably provide a link back to their site, though.

Otherwise, ask permission. It's only common courtesy.
