I am thinking about buying one CD/DVD Printer so I can send my wedding photos to clients. I like the fact that you can print professional looking DVDs with these printers.

I am thinking about one of these:

THE QUESTION: Does anybody here have one? Do you like it? Which one do you recommend? Was it worth buying it?

The reason I am asking because it is not cheap. It costs around $1000.

With the cost of having it done by someone like MpixPro being so low, I can't imagine this paying for itself. Especially after you account for the cost of supplies.

You don't want that unit. That unit is good if you need to label 20 discs at once. I'm assuming for a wedding, you'll be burning one (maybe two?) disc for each client, so I would just buy a decent inkjet that has a CD/DVD "tray"

I have an old Epson R300 that I use to print my clients discs. Works brilliantly.

Peel-off CD labels through a regular HP All-in-one, and applied with a "CD-Stomper"

i would not put a disc like that in my drive or player.

I had a blu-ray player and dvd drive break because of labels like that, glue gave up, sticker peeled off and disc shattered inside the machine.

You didn't "stomp" hard enough :)

But seriously, yeah...read about the risk of that happening... :o

Years ago I bought my Canon 6600D printer, it is set up to print on DVD/CDs but not from factory. I had to buy a $20 kit that allowed it to do that off ebay. Something about the US market not allowing it due to licensing, anyways... I use it for wedding clients all the time and I love it. Cost just as much as printing on photo paper. Its over 4 years old and still impresses me.

I've actually been using HP Lightscribe discs. In no way do they look as nice as a printed disc and jacket. Yet, I'm always surprised with how impressed and delighted my clients are when they first see it. And it's pretty low cost and easy to do.

Pretty intriquing. Any issues with the ink smearing?

I use an older Epson R260 and it looks amazing, clients love it. I paid $35 for the printer on ebay, and I use third party ink, also ebay, for $27. I only use this for printing DVD's so I've only replaced the ink once in 16 months.

This is definitely the way to go!
