I had another image dropped from Explorer. That makes two dropped and one accidentally modified which is an automatic drop. I know I'm not supposed to care but it sucks to make it into explore and then fall out.

This is the latest victim.

I corrected it and it should make more sense now. That's what I get for writing when I'm tired.

well, for one, what is "Explorer". Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer? something else? and how would or what does it mean that those apps "dropped" your images?

Ahhh... I figured most people knew I was referring to Flickr Explore. My mistake.

Could you explain a little about the automatic drop for accidental modification? I recently had an image where I changed the date to move it back to the top of my photostream. Would that automatically keep it out of Explore? Thanks.

who gives a rat crap how much gear you can list?

Did you change the date in the EXIF? If so, and you replaced the photo, then in my experience, yes.

No change to the EXIF and I didn't replace the photo simply edited the date posted to move it back to the top.
I'm only curious because this was a shot that I thought had a high chance of making it into Explore and I was a little surprised when it did not.

I know Flickr's "interestingness" algorithm takes into account a bunch of different factors making it very hard to know what will Explore and what won't but this shot has better stats than others of mine that have made it.

What I do is check the interestingness in my photostream and then make changes and I can see if it goes up or down. I found that even adding tags in one case knocked it down several spots but removing them brought an image back up. Not sure about changing the date but it is certainly possible.

Thanks for that. I knew groups could affect interestingness but I don't think I realized that too many tags could knock you down. My tags are not excessive and are all very relevant to the subject matter.

What's funny is that a guy from my contacts list who shoots very similar stuff to me has ~20 shots in Explore and he only puts them in a couple of groups and doesn't tag them much.

How, exactly, are you checking the interestingness of your pictures?
