A manual might be handy if you don't have one......

I noticed browsing quickly through the manual, it takes a mercury battery for the light meter. You may have to find a zinc air battery substitute for it since mercury batteries have been discontinued.

Depending on the design of the lightmeter it may be possible to use a 1.5v alkaline 625, but the zinc air at 1.35v is closer to what a mercury battery puts out.

Megapixels and high ISO are a digital photographers heroin. Once you have a little, you just want more and more. It doesn't stop until your bank account is run dry.

Look on ebay for the correct batteries a company called Wein or Widnes makes them. Modern batteries will work as well but since you're new to the camera I wouldn't recommend them since you have to compensate the light meter readings for the change in voltage with the new batteries

Yes we roll of film will tell you the number of exposures on it. You'll most likely find a 24 roll

have you fiddled with the mirror lock lever? it should be pointing downwards if I read the manual correctly... (p34 shows lever in locked position)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

btw...any idea on how old that film is that you found? If it wasn't freezer kept and it expired a while ago I'd put it aside or toss it out if I were you...it won't be a good roll for testing your camera out on...

You'll only be able to shoot RAW and won't be able to review your images.
Just kidding.
looks like a nice find - something to have a play with.

lol...I shot a lot of film when I was a kid and in high school...then kind of got out of it and got back into it rather enthusiastically about a year ago...

About a month ago I sold both of my 30Ds and was DSLR-less, so I shot with my Canon T90 as my main rig...and even though I'm no film n00b, for a while I kept trying to review my images lol...I had a good laugh at myself a couple of times :D
