I'm sorry if this is in the wrong area but wasn't sure what it falls under. Anyone have any experience setting up a photobooth with their DSLRs? I'm hoping to rig something up for a party. I hope to have basic photo booth functionality where they have control of when to take pictures and then automatic printing afterwards. I've looked at Remote DSLR pro but was wondering if there were better options. Party booth is interesting but I'm not sure how to set up the DSLR like a webcam, if thats even possible. Thanks for looking

The photo taking would be easy, back end a bit trickier. Perhaps rigging the sony Dye-Sub kiosk with touch screen lcd and tethered camera + remote shutter release rigged to "Shoot" button.

Hey,

I'm putting together a DIY photo booth this weekend using.

My 50D tethered to a Macbook.
Tripod.
Two Softboxes.
Shutter release cable.

Hopefully it goes to plan.... :)

Hmm, interesting idea...and then I got to thinking "hey, maybe you could come up with a DIY focal length adjustment using the 24-70 so they could switch between closer and fuller views..." and yada yada...:)!

Thanks Tony.

Great idea but I don't trust my 24-70 sitting ona tripod with a bunch of stranges drinking etc haha :)

Do you think the softboxes will do the trick? I thought about using the flash but then went to the boxes...

The client is bringing a bunch of props, blackboards for all the staff to be silly infront of the camera.

Softboxes could be great -- what lighting will you be using? If you have experience with the setup then that could be a great way to go to get good lighting on both the background and the subjects. I myself am not a studio shooter, but people here get some amazing results with a basic 2/3 light setup.

I'm using two 50 x 70 softboxes, like yourself my experience with studio is small. I have seen the site and the light is ok but I thought these would help fill in and shadows....

Fingers crossed.

Well, if you have experience using the stuff, setting power levels and all, it is certainly the "way to go" to get the best quality results! 'Course people also have come up with great results with just a couple off-camera speedlights, but they are better and more prepared than I typically am:)!
