Almost pitch black shot

I've always liked this country road because of the trees on either side.

I just happened to be driving through it last night, and stopped for a shot. A little crop and very slight curve adjustment is all I have done.

Comments? Is there just really not enough going on?

I do plan on re-visiting this place for a sunrise shot though.

I like it, but I think the issue is there is nothing of interest in the middle. If you could see light through the "tunnel", it would be a more effective shot, I think.

i love it!
the liquid inky absence of everything sure makes that tiny island of light dancing in the center stand out
like a beacon for the weary traveler.
beckoning me into the center of all things
i see everything in the pool of nothing..
and nothing on the island of everything..

kinda makes me want to run..

Agree with Todd. It sure has possibilities.

Id remove the house lights on the far right, and straighten the photo to the horizon

I'm not seeing the possibilities on this one

Get your screen brightness checked at the bottom of this page as I'm at a loss to see any sign of a road whatsoever.

At first I didn't understand the reference either; look for the grayscale bar with the alphabet below it.

Still don't really get it. My monitor is calibrated fine.

Brighten up the shadows a bit and dodge the road so there is hint of it showing.
Leave the sky about the same brightness.

branches are fantastic. wind must've hit the branches on the left though. nice and spooky - sort of reminds me of an alexander volkov painting.

woah... I just viewed this again on a uncalibrated monitor and can see the road now

I agree that the horizon should be straightened.
You might also consider cropping the sides away and halfway into the "third" trees on either side; they'd frame the picture nicely and it would give it a little more of a tunnel/claustrophobic feel. Nice shot either way.
