I really took advantage of the beautiful weather today! It was a tad brighter then I would of liked but I worked with it and tried some new things in PS. My kids are going to be so sick of me taking pics of them! lol! What do you all think? I am slowly trying to build myself into a better photographer and maybe one day, not anytime soon!, make a business out of this. C&C Please! By the way POTN... You Rock!

I like the first one best, but I have to say I think the vintage style could be toned down a little. :)

The strong daytime lighting did not help you. In the first there is strong, harsh lighting on the side of her face and her eyes are overdone just a tad. I like the third one, but in the fourth one there is a sun spot on the face of the child on the right. Cute kids and keep firing away!

Personally, I'm not a fan of the vintage look. Don't understand why people spend big $$ on a camera and then turn the pictures into circa 1970's snapshots.

Thanks! Yes the sun was not in my favor, and it was def a tad bright. I was trying something new in the PP and seeing if it worked or not. I don't usually do a vintage thing but hey if you don't try then you don't know right? :) Thank you for the critique!

You're welcome. I'm sure a lot of people like the vintage look, it's just not my cup of tea!

I think shooting toward the light source like this produces great results when done right. First make sure the front of your lens is really clean, and the less filtration the better if you want to minimize white noise (haze). One of the things you have to watch out for is too much direct light striking the side of face and top of head. I'm speaking mostly of the first shot. Great exposure, but not sure that the vintage PP helps this one. The first shot displays less haze than the others.
To me the vintage PP magnifies the problem of the white noise (haze) and just turns it a yellowish cast.
On a side note the little fella looks just like my grandson.

I really enjoyed the first and the last, love the editing you have done on these images. Can you share your process?

Experimenting is how you learn! Good for you, although I also find them a little overdone.
Really like the last photo, but without the heavy vintage?

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

I love all of your shots but I don't like the PP in any of them. Just not my taste sorry.

Dynamic, I opened them back up to try to get the history but it isn't there! It took me 2 hours (a few beers) and repeated watching of Lyndas on line tutorials creative effects to get this. I definitely would share if I still had the history. But it was lots of op adjustments, layers, Gaussian blur, and curves adjustments. If I attempt this again I will email you the history unless there is a way to retrieve it!

Thank you Flo :)

Thanks Chucking Fluff, I really love your name btw, I think I am just going to go back to basic editing work on that and really just focus on getting that right before I do any creative stuff.

We all process how we like to see the images and if you like it then stick with it. My name comes from fly fishing for pike; the flies I tie are real big pieces of fluff.

Since its nap time, I took a few minutes to "redo" 2 of the photos. The second one is a result of bad lighting, shadowed face and forgot the ext flash so used ACR fill flash slider, I love the pic cause they both are looking at me for once! Ok min PP on the first, just sharpening.
