Anyone else here have trouble getting paid with Smugmug? I have praised them in the past but man I tell ya I'm just about over this crap. You have to have minimum $500 bucks in your account to get paid each month unless you put in a special payout request, I have done this special request through e-mails and through the website and I either get only a partial payment of my balance, or a e-mail from them basically saying I'll have to wait till the next month again

Does anyone here suggest a better website gallery service that actually pays out your full balance every month without getting the run-around?

I'm sorry the payment schedule is causing your grief :(. Everything is laid out real clear on our help page "getting paid" which is linked below. The excerpt below specifically relates to your post. We aren't trying to give you the run around - promise!

http://www.smugmug.com/help/reporting (external link)

#3
If your Tax and Payment form has been submitted and you have accumulated over $500 in profits by the last day of the month, you will automatically receive payment next month.

#4
If you have filled out your online tax and payment form but do not have over $500 in profits at the end of the month, you may request payment through our online form here (external link). After that payment, we'll resume the normal monthly schedule.

Similarly, choose Do not pay me to make sure that we don't pay out your profits until you're ready.

#5
All forms and requests must be submitted by the end of the month to guarantee payment in next month's processing. If your request is not received before the first, your payment may not be processed until the following month.

Example: January 31st is the last day to request payment in the February 8th distribution. Requests received on or after February 1st may not be processed until March 8th.

Don't know the answer to your problem, but I have been entirely happy with smugmug. They are tops in my book. Hope you get this resolved.

I use Exposure Manager. I have been with them for two years. I tried Zenfolio, but at the time I could not offer packages, but now Zenfolio does offer packages. I have been very happy with EM, and as long as there is more than $25 in your account at the end of the month, you get a check.

Conversely, I just left EM for SM and have been very happy :)

I've not had problems being paid by SM - although it's only been a few months.

I click the box each month and get a check every month, almost always less than $500, but I get my check!
(okay, direct deposit)

I was looking to get setup with smugmug or a similar service... looks like I'll need to do some more research. Having to jump through hoops to get a check seems like a PITA to me.

This cracks me up: Similarly, choose Do not pay me to make sure that we don't pay out your profits until you're ready.

Why on earth would you not want your profits paid every month? Oh sure, keep my money interest free... I don't need it! Great feature! Sounds like they need a "send me my money every month" check box before I'll be signing up.

I think some pros that have other sources of income like to save up a nice chunk of change in their accounts so they can save up for some new glass or what have you

I was using Exposure Manager, they only paid when I had higher than a certain amount in the account with no way to get paid earlier - frankly, I appreciate the ability to be paid on demand, and it doesn't sound unreasonable to me.

I forget exactly, but I think Zen has a similar deal UNLESS your willing to take your payment via PayPal. Then I think it's any amount at any time and I've never seen a fee from either ZF or PP.

You can request payment anytime with Zen, there is a $3 charge for a check/cheque (sent within 5 business days) or free to your Paypal account with no charge from either side.

Ok ... there's the box. "Click!"

Whew, that sure is a lot of work! Why do I have to go through all this trouble?

Unless SM pays interest, I still fail to see how this would be a better option.

It's just an option and by default it is not on. People like choices :).

Hi, if there's a problem still, I'd like you to write me, http://smugmug.com/help/emailreal (external link) ATTN: Andy

We've set up our payments to be electronic, and we do 'em every month for pros that want to get paid monthly - there's no minimum amount, but there is an automatic amount - $500 and we'll automatically send it. Under $500, just push the button, 'pay me' and we'll send it. If you ever miss, and it's after the end of the month, no worries, we can usually do a special payment, all you have to do is ask.

Again, sorry you got tripped up by this, I'd love it if you wrote me about the details so I can fix things up.

We want to pay our pros $$ - it is YOUR money after all :)
