Parts and repair for Canon Ixus 980

My wife has a Canon Ixus 980 that has developed a fault. The 'Set' button in the centre of the rear scroll wheel doesn't depress / work. This button acts as an 'enter' key and accessing photo shooting options i.e. white balance, image size, colour filters etc. The button just won't depress or anything. The camera takes photos etc so works in auto mode, and in manual mode (based on the last setting when the 'set' button did work).

We took it in for assessment / repair and apparently the whole wheel has to be replaced, at a cost of £98.70!!

Now that we know what's wrong and needs repairing, does anyone know where I can get a replacement wheel for a DIY repair? And the steps to take a 980 apart (saves figuring it out as I go along). Can't justify forking out for a brand new camera if we can help it.

If you call Canon's support number they may be able to put you in touch with the Canon Parts for the UK. +44 (0)844 369 0100. In the US, the Canon Parts people have been very helpful to people needing a replacement part.

Thanks for the number. Just called canon and they put me in touch with their repair and parts people. £13 for the rear wheel!! Now all i need to do is figure out how to take the camera apart.

Must be some good labour to make up the £85 if we were going to pay for someone to repair it
