Not sure if there was a thread already but just want to confirm that the new MKII doesn't have date code. It comes with a CD instead of regular manual.

Serial are 10 digit long.

I guess Canon lost the UZ stamp :D

Hmm I think there might be differences in production - mine game with a proper manual and not a CD. I've no idea though where or what to look for in the date code to check.

Tools of the trade: Canon 400D, Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L M2, Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 OS, Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro, Tamron 24-70mm f2.4, Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6, Raynox DCR 250, loads of teleconverters and a flashy thingy too

Well I'm sure they have the U... it's probably the Z that they're missing. ;)
I wonder if CD contains only manual or other stuff as well.

Yours is probably UY datecode then. Mine's UY. Datecode is stamped on the plastic portion of the lens mount.

Yeah I read that post too but couldn't find it anymore.

From what I've read, it looks like lenses received in the last 2-3 weeks or so don't have date code. I guess Canon is finally going away with the date code stuff.

On yours yes. Others with 10 digit serial numbers, No.

If your came with a manual booklet, you have date code, with CD, you don't.

I looked and it was blank.

Yep its got the UY date code - seems to be change in the production/lineup methods at canon

The-digital-picture also noticed a change. And Chuck Westfall has comfirmed the change.
