An outsiders perspective of my living room lamp. Open to comments. Go nuts. Note that I actually planned this image so I may be bonkers, but I'm bonkers with a plan. I will entertain crop ideas and I have tried them; decided to leave as is ... for now.

You're bonkers! :D

Generally, what's appealing to me in an abstract image is its symmetry so I would prefer to see the shade at right angles to the curtain.

I'd lose what looks to be the plastic covering that protects the lampshade (if that's what it is). Most other lines in the image are crisp and form geometric patterns...this jagged edge (and the wrinkles in the plastic) takes away from the image, at least IMO. Also, agree with the previous comment...level off the lamp shade such that its perpendicular to the curtain edge.

Thanks for the critique gents ...

To give the audience some idea of how deep the "bonkers" rabbit hole truly is I view the crooked shade as the catalyst for discomfort breaking up the symmetry by inserting a chaotic element and the plastic wrap a useful texture in what would otherwise be empty space.

That said symmetry can be made the focus of interest and the critiques given honored. I will give it another try later this evening.

a follow up image and all I can say is this is called "less crooked shade". no easy way to get exact alignment given the nature of the setting. It won't matter this image is history any way.

I'm very new to photography and don't qualify to critique this but from a graphic designers point of view I'd say go even more nuts with the asymmetry. For that matter I prefer the initial crop but I don't like how the top part of lamp divides the frame into two equal parts (top bottom)

If you wanna go asymmetric I think it's better to exaggerate it a bit so it doesn't look like unintentional. Otherwise I think it's a great idea. I like abstraction.

I think I like the original best.
