Okay, I'll stop.

The following images were shot wide open with available light, mounted on 1Ds Mark II.

OP - Thanks for requesting these images - these samples reinforce the 100 f/2.8 macro's place on my "needed lenses" list. :)

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

I grabbed mine sort of on a whim because I saw a good deal, but I am really glad I ended up getting it. I do enjoy using it for portraits and other non-macro purposes. It's nice to never have to worry about the minimum focusing distance, which I do occasionally run into when shooting people on my 50 1.4.

There are some really good images here. I have the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM (Non-IS) and to be honest I have only used it a two or three times at most, and never for anything other than a few macro shots. I'm keen to put it on my 7D (just got it!) and start shooting some pictures! :)

I was actually considering getting the 85mm f/1.8 and selling the 100mm due to lack of use - think I will definitely hold onto it now but also grab the 85mm.

The 100mm macro seems to be my dedicated "domestic animal portrait lens." I'm sure that'll change once I get my 35mm or 50mm prime, but the macro's done pretty well.

It's nice to never have to worry about the minimum focusing distance [/snip]

This is why my 100 macro stuck around longer than my 135L and 85 f/1.8 (the 100 has since been sold to fund the 90 TS-E, which also has a short MFD and is even better for product shots).

The extreme sharpness of this lens also makes it good for pics of the stars. Here is a recent one of Comet Hartley 2, passing the Perseus Double Cluster (sky colour cast is down to my inexpert processing of the light pollution).

Unfortunately I don't have it in a bigger size... but here it goes anyway:

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

anymore guys? :)

Anyone shooting landscape with it? I'm going to get one later this month and plan to use it extensively for my upcoming trip to New Zealand.

Have in mind green foreground with flowers, and mountains in the background. I have seem amazing pictures like this taken with a Zeiss makro planar 100mm (ok, that's a different beast, but I hope I can get acceptable results from the canon as well).
