Very pretty. Had a family member that worked in a gas processing plant and used to show us some of those and others you rarely see. They would come in for the heat from the plant. Nice shot and a great teaching lesson for your young one.

Ahhh, well the plot thickens - you see, my son is a lover of anything that crawls, or slithers - we have 2 pet snakes & he is always collecting grubs & bugs for his tank & we have a rule that what ever he catches can only stay in the tank for one day and then be let go.

It turns out that the green grub he found a while ago - escaped - in.his.bedroom.

Mum (me) had no idea - and of course he didn't tell me (typical of a 9 year old boy)

Looks like that grub was not long off turning into this Emperor gum moth.

Our home is surrounded by gum trees, so lucky for this guy, he was found & let go into a tree before our cat found him !

Son has had a talking to about keeping grubs in his room ! lol

Hahaha, little boys do manage to collect things which turn into interesting stories. Makes you wonder what else has escaped in his room huh? I'm glad the moth had a happy ending.
