its just a great tool however any 70-200mk1 owner should not envy it.

My old mk1 was very sharp at f/2.8 but the mk2 seems to exhibit almost like a sharpness/clarity/contrast "hit" that I would do in post.

This white lens does seem to be like a "zoom" prime lens. One thing is I've seemed to be able to land 1/25 SS photos with the new lens.

mine is a great lens as long as it hits focus but it seems to have issues with that at the moment. Just waiting for some money so I can send the bugger into canon and have them fix the problem with the lens.
I did notice though it seems that when it does hit focus the 200mm range seems a tad sharper then the 70mm range though either way both are sharp when in focus.

love the fact that I stop down for more DOF anymore and I don't stop down to get a sharp image. it's great comming from the 55-250 :-)

digital: 7d 70-200L 2.8 IS MKII, 17-55 2.8 IS

Did anyone have to micro adjust theirs? I found that at +2 it's a tad sharper on the 1DMKIII.

Also how's low light focusing for you? I found it hunted quite a bit even when I was shooting 1/800 f2.8. But when it locked, it was sharp.

I have +1 on my 1d3. Everyone may need to do a minor tweek.

Not enough time yet with this lens to see how the low light operation of this lens.

I might get the chance to do just that.

Okay, I got my chance to compare the my MK1 with an MKII today. Here goes.

All are out of DPP with the same settings and no further work was done on them. All are shot handheld wide open; images are either 70mm or 200mm. For each set of images, the top one is MK1 and the one below is MKII. I am kind'a not seeing a major difference.

I followed Chuck Westfall's technique but took many more shots at various MA settings. From -5 to +5 I cannot see any difference - it is tack sharp all the way. It starts getting softer if I go more than 5 either way. So I ended up leaving my MA setting at zero.

Sharper than I thought was reasonable on a zoom! First time on a zoom lens I can look at photos from my 7D at 100% crop and feel like they are very sharp. Which is crazy given the amazing pixel density of the 7D's sensor.

Hard to say - instead of your pictures I see a padlock and the text "Content Protected by Owner" ...

Mine couldn't be sharper. I thought my original 70-200 was sharp until I got this. The difference is dramatic - two very different lenses. The contrast is way superior to the Mk I and I can handhold to almost half a second at 200mm - what more could one ask for?
