I have just bought a roll of paper which does fit in the room but I did not think about the bottom of my backdrop stand when I was measuring and because of this it does not fit while on the stand so I am thinking of hanging it from the celling. I would have just bought the one that goes on the wall but there is a window and heater in the way. I would use the bar from my stand obviously. I just need advice on how to go about doing this. My mom is worried that the celling will not hold it but the paper roll does not seem that heavy to me. What do you guys think?

In house construction you have a series of beams/studs that typically run 16 inches apart. when they put the drywall on your ceiling, that is what they would have nailed into to hold the drywall up before they taped the seams and put final coat on it. I'm not sure what you were planning to use to hang the roll from the ceiling, but if it were attached to the studs (and not just the drywall panel), I don't see why that wouldn't hold it securely, unless I'm missing something here...

That is what I am not %100 sure about. All I know is I need some type of hook and I need to figure out how to hang them and attach them to the celling.

I would get a couple of eye hooks that have a large enough eye to fit a wooden dowel or a metal curtain rod. Lowe's or Home Depot should have larger eye hooks that screw into wood.

If you don't understand how homes are constructed, find someone who does and who has the tools to locate the ceiling joists. Once the ceiling joists are located, then you need to determine which joists can be used to support the hardware you'll want to hang the background from (spacing is a paramount consideration of course) and then mount the hardware to the joists with sturdy screws.

DO NOT try hanging the background from something which is only supported by the ceiling's drywall.

As an alternative to hanging the background from the ceiling, you could support it along a wall. Similar to the ceiling mount, though, you'd have to locate the wall studs to use as a mounting point for the hardware.

Another option would be Autopoles (or a knock-off) with superclamps and U hooks. This lets you position them right against the wall. That way you'd have a sturdy, non-permanent setup that you could do yourself. Yes, you'd have to buy more equipment, but it would be something you could use anywhere, at any time, and would beat paying someone to do something for you that you can't take with you.

Edit - this is pretty much what I use, along with a piece of 1 1/2" electrical conduit to support the roll - less than $10 for that.

Total cost of everything should be less than $150. This is what it looks like (sorry, pic is from camera phone).

When I first started using seamless paper I needed something simple and inexpensive. I came up with this:

A lot of people have done this and variations on it.
