Recently cracked the glass covering the LCD screen. Canon Canada wants a flat rate of $300 to replace the glass. Looking for less expensive alternatives.

Anyone ever replaced this themselves?

Any aftermarket solutions?

TIA

They're only stuck on with doublesided tape gaskets...

Back LCD cover is part number CB3-1417 "Window, TFT"
Gasket is part number CB3-1416 "Tape, TFT doubleside"

they're avail from Canon, or third party suppliers e.g. link (external link)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Fabulous post. I can't believe Canon is charging $300 for replacing that.

I spent probably two hours searching all over the internet to try to find info on this, no luck.

I'll be putting an order in shortly.

Thx all for your input! :D
