The kit lens only kept my interest for about 2 weeks. I am approaching 1 year of seriously being interested and I think my work is getting to the point where I could charge for it. I don't know how some people get the courage to do weddings with little experience, but I would feel comfortable doing some portraits or other small jobs. I'm considering upgrading to a 7d and selling my t2i. I really wanted to go up to a 5d, but there is so many rumors of a new version coming, so I think I am going to buy a 70-200 mII first. I have to admit though, I was wondering how the craigslist people could make any money at the tiny margins they were asking for. I figured it had to be a trap though. I'm curious, what specifically about the T2i is limiting to you? (I'm still working on bumping up against the limit on mine, but I'm getting close as well)

Although I've done a good job sheilding the camera, I've hurt myself in fear (think slip and fall). The ISO increments are better on xxd and higher up. The shutter speeds I just recently found are about double. I also keep hearing about this excellent focusing system in the 7d. I don't burst often, but it only takes about 4 or 5 shots before the t2i slows down. I'm also interested in getting into multi flash setups and I hear the 7d has a controller built in, so I don't have to get that pricey add-on. The 5d has me sold on ISO performance alone, aside from several other little perks. Coming off a P&S powershot A580 previously, the t2i has blown my mind and really got me interested in doing more with photography. Even on the point and shoot I was producing better pictures than most do, but the slr really opened my opened my eyes and got me interested in the massive amounts of technical details and creativity possible.

I don't. Pros have: -a business license - multiple cameras -thousands of dollars in lenses and flashes -hard drives to back up the images -insurance -experience -people skills <---------------
-color calibrated monitors -professional print labs -professional albums I lolled Dan

Either they will learn and succeed or they will fade into oblivion as a professional. Mark

But it goes beyond that. They start a page on FB and charge to take pictures. What do you think about this? I’m sure there is a journalism forum where Reporters are gathering to complain about Bloggers, while the news industry burns down around their feet. No, I'm not a professional photographer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I always lol. Its good that they're getting into it, and there's a learning curve. But all of them always think they're taking these great photos when in reality...... Maybe there great photos to them and that is all they have to be. Ay Hombe !

Nov 21, 2010 20:25 | #58 I didn't read through all 4 pages, so this may have been mentioned already, but I'd like to know what is wrong with the 24-105 f/4L lens? That is the "kit" lens that came with my 5D Mark II...
