Cold-weather flies in Wyoming (#1)

About the only type of fly that you'll see around here in cold-weather months.

This is a 9-image stack - I deliberately left out images that were focused behind the main body.

Please note, also, that hook has been modified to be 'barb-less'.

G'day, That's funny. I'm glad it doesn't get that cold around here. A mate of mine is an avid fly tier as well, and is quite successfull with them. I can't believe how much time is involved in tying just one of these. Personnally I buy hard body lures, and fish with those out of a kayak. Good to see that you fish barbless, makes the release so much easier. I crush mine to do the same. Curious as to what you might catch with this, though this isn't the forum to get into that discussion. Fishing to me is like politics/religion or even photography to others.

Nice image, and you don't have to worry about it flying off in the middle of your shoot.

Dutch, this fly would be used for trout. Hook is Mustad 94833, size 14, 3x fine, down-eye. Length, from eye to bend of the shank, is approx. 1/2-inch (13mm).

G'day, Mate that is pretty small, the fish don't get to big where you are Great work on the fly, I know how time consuming some patterns are. Good work with the camera too.
