Car Models

Shot car models for a friend of mine:
Sizes vary from 1:16 to 1:43
Shot with 7D, 70-200F4 L and light comes from 1 off camera flash 430EX II, shot through an umbrella.

The umbrellas work. It's hard to shoot a car with a lot of graphics on it & still get interesting reflections in it. I like the way the DOF falls off, but might have tried a more realistic surface to put them on.

Yeah, me and my friend are car crazy, my collection is smaller. Thanks for your link. I know it's a shame about the background, but he didn't have any interesting places in his house.

I like the DOF isolating the cars in the group/sandwich shots, but wish there was a greater DOF on the single car shots.

You have a nice collection of cars there. Good pictures too.

Nice cars & nice shots. #3 for me. Ithink they could benefit from a less distracting display surface / background though. Perhap just a piece of foam-core? Great work.

Nice models, and with all those details not the easiest to photograph well, but you've managed it quite good.

As for a background, get a nice, white sheet of A3 paper (or a 13x19inch sheet) like this :

Good 30 second "How to"! Just because "but he didn't have any interesting places in his house.", doesn't mean that someone should accept that there's nothing they can do about it.
