Anyone got news of this?
One would assume that since the XXD range is at an end that all the goodies on the 60D will come over to a 7DMK2.
I want a new camera or 2nd but don't like the idea of a plastic 60D that was a reason I left the XXXD.

The xxD range is not at an end, it has continued with the 60D - or, if you prefer, it has forked into 60D and 7D. I fully expect there will be a 7D II (or whatever name), and I expect there will be a "70D" or equivalent name. Not sure what features from the 60D the 7D doesn't have - maybe some video settings and the flip out LCD?? Doubt you'll see flip LCD on 7D due to weather sealing/toughness issues. Nobody knows when 7D II might be released. I'm not sure what I'd expect to see improved short of an unforeseen advance in sensor technology improving ISO or dynamic range. Mark

Have you even handled a 60D to see how it feels instead of dissing it because of the spec sheet of engineering plastic shell over an aluminum chassis?

Nov 18, 2010 03:33 | #5 I have a 40D and yes I have played with a 60D and yes it feels smaller than my 40D and more like a toy than the 40 or 50D and from what I have read the 60D is the end of the XXD line of cameras. So my comments are valid. Peter

A camera slotting in between the rebels and the "7D series" for the future seems natural and there's otherwise too big a gap between those models. Once they've gone to the trouble of developing the "chassis" with the flip out LCD etc. it would seem very odd to me to not update it with the next software/sensor or Digic chip etc. Mark

More info | Nov 18, 2010 10:50 | #10 There is (or was) the 7Dsv (studio version) that can be puchased on special order. I've never seen one but it looks legit. I don't think you'll see a 7Dmkii for another couple of years.
