As the title say wich monitor would you suggest for editing

They're different ratios, get the one you like the best. AFAIK the screens are pretty similar otherwise.

Ones tft one is ips does that matter

Oh I thought they were both IPS. There are two Dell models that are IPS, those are the ones i'm talking about.

Better wait for someone who knows more about monitors to chime in. Or you could read the big monitor thread which talks a lot about the 2209 and probably others too.

They are both e-IPS displays, from LG. The 2209wa is 1680 x 1050 resolution while the U2311h is 1920 x 1080 (slightly wider aspect ratio). Otherwise they are equal in performance.

And... ALL LCDs are TFT (thin film transistor).

For my purposes, mostly retouching old photos, I do just fine with one 2209wa. But if I was more active or a professional, I would run dual (matched) monitors.
