Kinda dumb question. I've been happily using my Skyport system for a few months. The transmitter sits in the camera hot shoe with the short cable connecting it to the camera's sync socket. I saw a video today where the photog' attached his same transmitter without using a cable connecting the Skyport transmitter to the camera. You do have to use the connector cable right? (Elinchrom manuals are not very well written in this regard with explanations).

You can put it in the hotshoe, or you can connect it via PC cable. You don't need to do both, that could potentially even cause problems - but probably not.

Best use one or the other. I use the pc socket when I have a flash on top. If no flash, then trigger on the hotshoe

Thanks Guy's,
I took the transmitter off the hot shoe, cleaned the contact and now it works fine, with no cable! I think dirty contact was the problem.
