Film Camera for class?

Hey everyone, I just started a photography class in school, and appearently it's film only. They have camera's that they can lone to us students, but they only have 10 of them for the 22 of us. Plus, the camera's are pieces of crap. So, I figure it might be worth it to purchase a good film camera to use in this class since I'll be in it for the next 6 months.

My question is, what's a good camera to purchase? It's gotta be canon so I can use my current lenses with it. I have a budget up to $300.00, but will not exceed that by any means. I also know absolutely nothing about film. I've never even used one. Hehe, need help.:p

What are your initial recommendations?

Given the lenses you have, they should all work fine with any EOS film camera - I'm assuming the Sigma isn't for an APS sized sensor. I have an EOS ELan - the first Elan model, as well as my 10D, and I've used it for about ten years now. I'd check e-bay for any EOS model, and buy what looks to be the best deal, considering that your class isn't likely to exploit features that are exclusive to any one model. I just did a quick search for 'canon' and 'elan' and came up with 151 items in the film camera category, many of which are under $200. Good luck with the class, and with buying a film EOS.

I have a Canon elan 7e for sale in the market place forum that I'm selling for my brother. It includes a 50mm f/1.8 mark II. Price is 325 dlls plus shipping, but I'm sure that he can come down on the price a bit if I ask him. If you don't want the lens you can just sell it because he'd rather not separate the kit. Let me know if you are interested.

I've got a Canon Rebel 2000 you can have if you want. It's about 5 years old, but it works fine. I've got no lens to throw your way, but you mentioned you already had lenses and a 50 1.8 is only $75 new. The camera allows for full manual control, but it is a bit hard to work both the shutter speed and aperature in "M" mode because of the lack of wheel on the back of the camera.

If you can afford it, I'd recommend an Elan (I just picked up a 7n which replaced my Rebel 2000), but if you're strapped for cash, you can have this 2000.

You can always check ebay....I got a EOS 650 for $16 from ebay and it works flawlessly.

Have you actually been to the class yet? The reason I ask is because I took a class last year that was supposed to be film only and the teacher had a Nikon D100 and had no problems with people having Digital SLRs.
Might want to check that out first.

If you have $300 to spend, I reccomend finding a elan7 or something.

Personally, I just had to order a Rebel G2 for one of my classes, since the professor is very much against digital SLR's saying the dont produce near the quality of a 35mm. He even went as far as saying the disposable 35mm cameras produce much better looking photos.

a deal can't get any better than free.

Toogy; I've been in the class for two days now, and have personally asked the teacher if I could use my DSLR instead of film. His answer was a stern "no". Black and white film photography only in his class. Haha, not exactly my strong suit.:p

I can recommend the canon A series cameras. Dirt cheap, billions of second hand high quality optics and great quality cameras.

someones selling a eos-7 with a battery pack and a lens on this webiste ( check the marketplace) for $290 i think, i bought a eos-1N off ebay for $300 something love that camera feels great in ur hand makes the 10d feel like crap
