other than possible vignetting, is there a chance for physical damage? if possible, any sample pics with this combo? I still have my sigma30 from my 1.6crop days and just picked up a 1d4. Thanks.

The vignetting took up half the frame on my 5D2 when I tried it. It was unusable.

I imagine it'd be fairly bad even on 1.3x, since it vignettes noticeably on crop. It may be all right at f/4 or smaller. You'd definitely have to crop the corners at wide apertures.

No, the sigma lenses do not poke into the mirror box like Canon EF-S lenses, do, so they are safe to use. Give it a try and see if you consider the vignetting acceptable or not.

bobbyz (?) uses a Sigma 30 on his APS-H body. I seem to remember it being fairly usable.

I don't notice any vignetting with my Sigma.

It about -1EV at the edges at f1.4. Normally you wouldn't notice with the typical f1.4 subject and it can even assist in isolation.

I used a Sigma 30 on a 50D, and didn't notice any vignetting... It did however vignette on my 1D Mk II, so I sold it...

it will mount, but sensor coverage will be inadequate, heavy cropping will be required.

yes Bobby uses his on the 1DMKII. A bit vignetting but stopping down a bit will work fine.
