Well, I'm tired of the cute little puppies taking up the whole forum. Older dogs are pretty darn cute, too. Here's two of my old girl, Dana, who'll turn 12 in a couple of months. In one, she's still got that mischievous sparkle in her eye. In the other, she looks more like her age.

Please post your shots. I'd love to see the other old dogs around here.

I'll play since I have a old girl. This is Gertrude Louise, she goes by Gert, Trudy, Gertie, she can be a difficult dog at times she is diabetic and her sugar is always high its never under 350 except early morning. Trudy is ALWAYS hungry I know its her diabetes and she drinks alot, unfortunately she gets in trouble a lot especially in the afternoon with her begging and begging and begging. After I yell at my girl I bend down and tell her mama gets upset with you but she loves you very much. I carry her everywhere since she cannot see, barely shadows right now and boy is she heavy especially when she makes herself dead weight, but that's at least what I can do to my aged girl.

I do love her very much and there will be a BIG void when she goes. She has some cute things she does being blind looking in the kitchen like I am standing there when I am behind her in the living room, I have a little chuckle then I go and get her to show her where I am. Too cute.

Here she is skin tags and all.

Here poor feet are so bad from the arthritis and diabetes but she still has a lot of life in her.

Why do dogs sit in the sun, my dogs do it too and when it gets really hot in the summer I have to drag them in.

Love your pooch!

Thanks, she is a sweetie. She absolutely has to be involved in everything I do around the house. Never leaves my side. Gertie looks good for almost 13!

All excellent posts. Please keep them coming.

The old fat one, Kato. She's somewhere between 11 and 12 now, but still acts like a clown on most days. Time is catching up with her though, her eyesight is slowly going and arthritis has really slowed her down in the last year. :(

How can a thread devoted to old dogs only have 12 posts and none since Nov. 2010? There should be more pics -- it's so heart-warming to see pics of our older furry friends.

This is our oldest dog, Ginger, who turned 14 in April and who's been with me for 12 years. She's a rescue, and other than a little arthritis and slightly diminished kidney function (according to the vet), we're very fortunate that she's in remarkably good health for her age.

Well done getting Ginger to that age, she looks great (lovely photo). As a rescue I'm sure she has repaid you a thousand times in love! & I agree about the old dog theme, while it is a sad time because you know that "the day" is approaching to fast, it's just such a special time in your relationship with your fur kid, you know each other so well that you can read each other’s minds :)

I hope Ginger has many more years with you.

Phil
