cjm, I guess I can brag about my cousin then... he played hockey with Peter Forsberg when he was a junior. My uncle was co-coach with Forsbergs father for the regional team they both played in (and won the tournament). If you're nice I'll let you meet my cousin. *giggles*

Just give me a heads-up ahead of your trip, Petra, and I'll PM my phone number so you can call me when you're here. Looking forward to seeing you!

regards,
Terry

Exactly what he said =) Can't wait! Would be awesome to meet a POTN'er, and a Swede too! However, I'm unable to offer lodging :(

Nah not really that much of a hockey fan anymore Petra. But I did get to shoot the Heritage Game Classic montreal Canadians practice. Heritage Classie was the largest out door NHL game in history. And I got to take pictures of the hockey players. Lots of sweds and fins on the Canadians too.

Kev, No worries about the lodging, we plan on staying the first week at a friends house near Niagara Falls (about 5 minutes or so from it) and the second week with the in-laws. Ben's brother turns 40 on october 27th, so we plan on flying out on the 20th and then stay a few days with our friend and on the 27th we are going to drive up to my brother-in-laws house and knock on the door. They have NO CLUE we're coming. Only one who knows are you guys and our friend near the falls. :D

Matty, no offence taken at all for asking. I wish more people were brave enough to ask. Mostly it's just children that has the "guts" to ask and say "what's that?"

The *thing* is a filter/humidifier that sits over a tracheotomy tube. This so I won't get in dust and dirt when I'm breathing and also keeping my air moist, since I can't filter the air through my nose and make it moist (actually the *thing* is also called *nose* since it does the same, just sits in another area). I have this tracheotomy done since my vocal cords are damaged due to a virus (tumours) and I've had over 250 (maybe close to 300) surgeries in my throat. That's the short version of my story. More about my disease, explained in better english than mine: www.rrpf.org (external link)

Petra:
That certainly doesn't sound like much fun, and you are definitely to be commended for handling it with such grace and good humor.

May I join your fan club, please?

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I watch Idol too! I have to say I admire the people who audition for it. I mean, if you're absolutely tone deaf and still go on national TV, then you have to be brave! It's not like they don't know it will be aired and people will laugh at them. If it wasn't aired I'd go only to hear what kind of creative nasty comment I'd get from the jury.

Nice to see people meet up who have met here. You often here horror stories of meeting up with people you bumped into online, so it is good to see this. Now I know some others are in China, lets pick a destination slap bang in the middle and meet up some time! Or let me know when you're in Guangzhou.

Ben, I actually met my hubby (also named Ben) online.... I was horrified before we actually met eye to eye that it'd be a total catastrophy, but he was as sweet as he had been online. Only met one person "live" that I've learn to know online that I just HATED. I've met about 50 people in total since 1995 and that *beaaaatch* was absolutely horrible. She had lied about who she was and she was racist and had no interest in any other person but herself... she had come from very afar and was only talking about herself, her country and didn't even pay attention of where she was (and I am living in the land of the midnight sin.... errhm, I mean sun... and she didn't even notice there was daylight 24/7!! HELLO???!!). Anyway, only one out of 50 is fairly good. So I look forward to meet more POTN'ers since I'm sure I won't meet anymore like *her*.

Thats good to know Petra, I have not actually met up with anyone I have met online......there is still plenty of time.

I keep on remembering a story I read a while back here in China about a couple who were romancing for months on the net, chatting and sharing intimate details. The women said she was having interesting and intellectual conversations and fell in love with her mystery man. Finally they met up and the 'man' ended up being two 12 year old kids. She was not happy as you can imagine.
