Hello--I'm in the processing of putting together an ad for my event photography work. I plan on using it mostly online but would like something I can adapt to a print ad / brochure.

In short, I am incredibly inept at designing such a document. I have most of the info that I actually want in it, save for 3 or 4 images that I plan on adding; but I need help in ordering, organizing and tweaking details such as the fonts used. I would also appreciate any tips regarding making the ad more effective at bringing potential clients to my site.

thanks a lot.

the draft:

Over all I like it. It seems elegant, high end and professional. The changes that I think you should make are that you have too much space between the wording on top and the line above event pricing.
It seems as if somthing is missing from that much space. I would also add my phone number on the bottom below the website.

Hey Mike. Thanks a lot. So it isn't disastrous ! The space I've left is for a photo or photos. I also wasn't sure about how I was going to juggle the sections around for the best effect.

I wonder if B&W photos would work best instead of color overpowering it. Tough call

Throw a BW picture in there. You could do four verticle photos ~1:3 ratio with a little space between. Crop "cut outs" of each general type of scene showing from basically the same or slightly differet prospectives.

^that's a great idea. I confess to being lazy and impatient about getting it done so I have temporarily just added a single image to the ad as seen below. But I'm absolutely going to get started on a better design with this idea as a start point. Thanks a lot.

I like your new one, on a side note, your prices are really cheap, how do you make any money?!

Thanks Will. The fees are commensurate with photographer confidence, I suppose. Seriously, though, it's a mix of being super insular in a business sense (knowing what those who do what I do at my level charge), working at a rate that suggests a quality I feel I can confidently meet; and I'm only in my second year of shooting events and everything, including rates, is in transition.

The short answer: I'm not yet.
