I've seen dates of Nov 24 and Jan 8 on different sites for the double rebate ending date. I need to wait until after the 1st to make my buy count towards next year's taxes. Which is it?

Also, if a site like Adorama or B&H has a period of time that you can wait to make payment (XX days to pay interest free) that would work too. Any insights here as well?

Thanks!

01/08/2011 is the end of the double rebate promo. Another canon promo ends at the end of Nov, not the double rebate one.

You have until Nov to order - at least from Adorama to get double on listed camera and listed lenses .
Kind of confusing , but you double on listed camera and double on lens till Nov 24 .
You have till jan to get double off listed lens and regular rebate on listed camera . They have that bill me later thingee if you have good credit

My 7D and 70-200 came an hour or 2 ago . [Batteries charging now] I got them for 600 off
1499 for 7D and 1869 for 70-200 mk II IS
The guy I dealt with is

Some lenses have rebates. If you buy a new body and a rebated lens at the same time, you'll receive a double rebate.

e.g. if you buy a 100mm f/2.8L IS macro, you get an instant $60 rebate. If you purchase a 60D, 7D, or other eligible cameras at the same time, you save $60 x 2 = $120 on that 100mm macro lens. Same goes for the other lenses when purchased with a camera body.

Thanks everyone. So, r.morales, if I'm to understand you right, you get an extra $100 off the 7D if ordered by Nov 24. If ordered after that but before Jan 8, you get the $400 rebate for the 70-200mm II, but only the $100 for the 7D (instead of $200), is that right?

No, there are two rebates going on right now:

There is a $100 rebate off the 7D if ordered by Nov 24.
There is a $200 rebate for the 70-200mm II if ordered before January 8th.
If you buy both before November 24th, you get the $200 rebate doubled (for $400) stacked with the $100 rebate for a total of $500.
If you buy both before after November 24th but before January 8th, you get the $200 rebate doubled (for $400) with no addition 7D rebate.

Long story short version - Yesterday the 7D , 70-200 mk II IS , flashpoint grip and an extra battery [camera reads] came . A little under 3500 and are in my house .
Long story version --
I got the 7D , 70-200 mk II IS for 3368 . This was the cheapest I could find that was not a scam .
B & H wanted 34xx [In cart] still have not emailed me back .
Buydig [Beach] wanted 31xx , then 32xx but you had to buy certain stuff and it was over before someone posted how to do it . They have not answered my emails either .
I have dealt with Adorama before , emailed my salesman - no response - emailed Helen.o [She monitors Market Watch here] She sent me Fred's info . My salesman was no longer there .
I emailed Fred probably 5 , maybe 6 times - helen.o twice - I talked to Fred on the phone twice .
One of my problems was the 100 L , 100-400 IS , or the 70-200
I get offers from credit cards at least once a month - anyway If I did not get offer by yesterday , I was going to use the bill me later thingee they have and pay off when CC offer came in .
Now I need a good deal on 45mb / 300x compact flash cards , was told maybe after Thanksgiving if I can wait .

Before the body rebate came out, the 7D was cheaper. Once the rebate was set, participating retailers had to raise the price by to Canon's MSRP before they could deduct the $100 rebate. The after-rebate price is higher than before-rebate prices.

So if one waited until January for the 7D, the price *might* actually be lower than it is now, but you'd miss out on the double lens rebate.

So you were able to get the 7D for less than $1500 before? How much from a reputable dealer like Adorama and B&H before the rebate?

Thanks for the excellent clarification and link (of which I'm around halfway through, but explains a lot!) :p

It was $1530 or so? Now it's $1700- $100 instane rebate. $1600 > $15xx.

On the FM forum, a B&H rep said that people could phone in their orders for $1500, but I don't recall if there was discussion about what would happen to the lens double rebates.

The pre-rebate price was $1499.

B&H had it for about 8 hours at $1399 after rebate (a friend of mine got in at this price). This was quickly corrected to $1599 ($1699 - $100 rebate).

On the FM forum, Henry said the offer was valid until ~Oct 15th, well before the lens double rebates started.

I was watching the 7D price on Canonrumors.com and it was at $1499 for sometime until a month or so ago and it went up to $1599, as Asterisk said.
