Hello all,

I posted a marina picture up here near sunset. Unfortunately, due to the light factor, I wasn't able to capture much detail. So, JUST to be creative, I decided to make an HDR photo out of it.

Not the ideal situation, as had no other exposures, so I got creative (poor man's HDR). So, I copied my initial photo in LR3 at a higher exposure and one at a lower exposure. I then combined the 3 images together in CS5.

I had never done HDR, but it is a fun and creative process. Next time I will certainly shoot in RAW and take the appropriate exposures at the time of shooting.

Let me know your opinion on the HDR attempt. Thanks

You need more range in your original photos in order to really get the HDR effect. You can do HDR from one properly exposed image. I do it quite often with scenes with moving items, trees, leaves etc. This does not work though. My guess is not enough range in your photos. While there is more detail in the "HDR" image its still not as much as it should be.

Don't know much about prophoto rgb but when viewed in IE, your efforts look rather disgusting as it can't recognise the colour profile.
