I just picked up a powershot s95, and I'd just like to confirm that the body dimensions (primarily the front face) exactly match.

I've got a 50% off coupon for zagg, and they only have the s90 version available:

If the front exactly matches as I suspect they do, the other model should be just fine. (external link) So, can anyone confirm please? :) TIA

According to the data posted on the Canon website, the dimensions are not exactly the same:

S95: (WxHxD) 3.93 x 2.30 x 1.16 in. (99.8 x 58.4 x 29.5mm)

S90 (WxHxD) 3.94 x 2.30 x 1.22 in./100.0 x 58.4 x 30.9mm

The width of the unit does not concern me, it's the front face. If the control ring lines up perfectly on both units... that's what I need to know, and for that someone would need to compare the two units, lined from top to bottom.

Thanks for looking up the dimensions though. It certainly does make it more likely that the s95 body remains relatively unchanged aside from being slimmer.

If you are looking for camera protection, you can always do this:

If nothing else, it makes a nice theft deterrent. It kills the resale value and no one would be caught dead using it.

Upon further examination, I've found the microphone hole has been moved on the s95--in fact there are two, which would require customizing the s90 skin... assuming the layouts matched. I've decided to abandon the idea. I've placed a cheap screen cover on the LCD, which should be enough. The new matte finish on the s95 should at least deter fingerprints.

Do also consider getting the S95 grip. It makes the camera more ergonomic and much easier to hold with one hand.

It looks like body cover sheets similar to the LCD cover.

Hmm? Not quite sure I understand, but regarding LCD coverings, I just buy large laptop LCD protectors in bulk ($1-$2 shipped on ebay), and trim them down to size. Very economical way of covering all my LCD goods.

I own those two cameras... the dimensions are slightly, yet noticeably different. For one thing, a standard 3" LCD screen protector fits the S90 perfectly... but, it's 1/8th of an inch too short along the horizontal for the S95. So, you do right by buying larger LCD screen protection; then, trimming it down. I personally have problems accurately cutting that plastic film... so, I opted to purchase a few inexpensive 3.1" screen protectors off of eBay. I haven't received them yet... hopefully, they'll fit without being too undersized or so large that I'll be forced to trim.

Welcome to the forum!
I'm considering getting an S95 so I appreciate your comments.
My everyday carry camera is a Pany ZS3. It replaced my G11 that was too heavy/big for that use. I miss the image quality of the G11 for everyday use.
Best,

Dave
