First time using video at a performance and I have noticed that if I change the F stop I can brighten or darken the video. Does shutter speed affect the video in any way?

Brightens or darkens the video but opening or closing the aperture, Shutter speed also effects the the video.

Time to go to school ;)

I don't think in terms of lighter or darker when deciding on an aperture setting. I think in terms of depth of field. Then I have to figure out the light. If there's too much, I use ND filters. If there's too little then I need to throw some light in the frame somehow.

Using a custom picture style that results in a flatter image will give you some room for adjustment in post.

I haven't paid much attention to dSLR video so this is good to know, thanks.

I didn't think the video function even responded to shutter speed settings.
