What hardware? How do you show calibrated/uncalibrated? With PC it's set in the control panel, that's the only place your monitor profile should be used, not in Photoshop or other software. There may be an exception for some color managed apps, but only if they specify they want the monitor profile, which is rare.

Spyder software gives you a 'show uncalibrated' at the end of the calibration process.

There's a huge difference when I do that.

Sell the Huey and get an X-Rite EyeOne Display 2.

I use the Huey Pro, and when I click "show uncalibrated" there is a difference. Try running it again, maybe you missed a step or it didn't run properly.

If your calibrator has you messing with the RGB sliders before the calibration is performed, and if you're really vigilant about minimizing the Delta E, there will be basically no difference. The same thing happens on my U2410s; the brightness changes slightly but the color is already virtually dead-on.

i just ordered the U2311H Dell as my primary monitor for photo editing. I used a IBM PVA panel till now and used the free GammaCorrection software. It was almost close, but not satisfactory !

So, once i get the U2311H, do i really need to buy these expensive hardware + software combination or the other tests/softwares available on internet [with judgement left to your graphics card] should be fine enough?

Owners of U2311H - what are you guys doing for calibration?

Spyder 3 Pro (external link) is meant to be decent, and you can always upgrade the software to the one above later.
