I have started to use this formula of backlighting with gels recently

"Backlighting any subjects will make any photo more interesting"

Ashley is stunning and has amazing Hair, so the catch lights on her hair really is what i was going for..

---------------

Ashley Model ~ Rocking the Red Chair for flickr

had a chance to work with my 2 friends tonight.. Ryan O Hicks and my Model Rep Ashley

her friend Lauren came out to help, she held the Fan to blow the hair around..

Lighting was 3 lights

2 speed lights on stands about 8 feet away from Ashley with a red gel at 1/16 power each..
1 Elinchrom quadra with a Deep Octa Boomed by Ryan O Hicks about 5 Feet Camera Left @ 1.4 in power

CameraCanon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperturef/2.0
Focal Length85 mm
ISO Speed50
Exposure Bias0 EV
FlashOff, Did not fire

red smoke was added in post.. maybe i will re work the smoke, just too tired right now...

Ashley Senior ~ The Blue Wall

My Model Rep and i have worked together to create some cool shot..

this pose was hers completely.. it was designed to show off her sleeveless top..

needless to say.. her senior photos will be totally different from the norm.. her friends will be super jealous.. LOL..

Rear lighting is a 580EX with a blue gel
and front is the Quadra with the deep octa boomed by her best friend.. Megan.. about 5 feet away just out of the frame.. @ 1.3 power

CameraCanon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperturef/2.0
Focal Length85 mm
ISO Speed125
Exposure Bias0 EV
FlashOff, Did not fire

---------------

Ashley Senior ~ Wild Fire Hair

working with Ashley's senior photos.. but clearly she is not the standard Senior being she is a rep for my photography..

so something edgy, with a touch of glam, and motion is what we came up with.

we had her friend Megan to help hold the Elinchrom quadra with the Deep Octa for Key about 7 feet away..

and for the back lighting was the Color Red (requested by Ashley) with a single 580 EXII @ 1/64 power

CameraCanon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperturef/2.0
Focal Length85 mm
ISO Speed125
Exposure Bias0 EV

Your work is always top notch, but you've raised the bar with that first shot.

1Dx - 5DIII - 40D - Canon 24-70LII, 100L macro, 135L, 16-35L, 70-200 f4 and 100-400L lenses

- "Very good" is the enemy of "great." Sometimes we confuse the two.

Great stuff as always, though I don't really care for the photoshop flairs on the fist one.

You're right, Pham, her friends will be jealous. I just got some gels in, can't wait to have fun.
