Phamster - DO you take these shots at night time?

the ones with the red chair i took inside a public building with rather poor lighting so it would be considered dark.. also had to use the modeling light on the quadra to focus to assure sharp photos..

the hair flip one was about 6pm indiana time so yes.. it was some what dark too.. but enough light so that i didn't need focus assist

the blue alley one was dark alley..

so over all dim light conditions..

thanks guys..

Pham, what are you using for focus assist when needed? I have been using a speedlight set to master and flash turned off. Than the CST going to the sync port on cam. It's kinda ghetto, but works. Is there a more streamlined solution you have found?

He just mentioned using modelling light of his Quadra for focus assist.

I had smae problem last night at around 6:00pm. It was dark and couldn't focus well with my 5d. Next time I need to remember to use a flashlight or those LED lights. Using flash on top wastes one flash IMHO.

Great set pham! I've got to use my gels more. What are you using to trigger the lights? I know the Quadra's come with skyports but wasn't sure if that's what you were using. Also, how often do you find yourself using the other Quadra head assuming you got the 2 head kit?

These images are amazing but I like the fact the 580ex's are in the photo, you see them firing but they dont harm the images at all. Im not used to seeing the gel and light in the photos.

Your imagination is always amazing to me! Did you add the 3 hot spots on her left arm and chair (in #1) in post or were they just enhanced? Either way they do add to the overall effect of the pic....well done!

Glad this floated back to the top, I missed it. Love the first and last.

As always, thanks for all the details. I've gotta try gelling some backlights. Wow, love the effect.

Very nice use of gels and backlighting. I may have to give this a try myself!
