ok, this is really bothering me. I can't upload pictures to a site, so I just typed in the path on the hard drive. The picture showed up great, then I clicked ok, and NOTHING. What happened?

You cannot type in the path from your hard drive you have to browse and then upload it from what I know plus make sure the file is 100k or smaller or it will not be accepted

but I can't even get the picture into an e-mail. I know full well HOW to, but something (apparently a local setting) is preventing me from doing so. I've tried everything, and I don't know what it is.

When you upload pictures to POTN, they don't show up until you actually finish your post.
You won't see the image in the preview.

When you get the 'Post new topic' screen, scroll down and look for a 'Manage Images' button.

Click on it.

Another window will open. There will be two "browse" buttons.

Click on the first one.

You'll see the contents of YOUR hard drive displayed. Navagate to your image just like you would using Explorer..

Once you find the image you want to post, click on it.

Choose OPEN.

If you want to post two images, then use the second "browse" button and follow the same procedure.

Once you have the image(s) chosen, Then click on the upload button.

When the upload is complete, close the window.

Your image is now on the server. It will appear below your text after you've submitted it.
