I went out with Frank tonight to take some shots of his new bike. He had the same bike in a different color, but his dad wrecked it so he got this one to replace it. I decided towards the end that I should get some shots with him in it. It was shot with one white umbrella and one bare flash.

Definitely want some comments and critiques since I don't normally do portrait work and I want to improve. And before anyone asks, no I didn't edit his eyes like that. He's wearing those colored contacts that make your eyes really blue.

They look flat and underexposed to me, and the subject has the same expression in every picture.

5 and 6 don't really look to have had much thought put into in the framing, with there being too much negative space above the subject's head in 6, and the clutch and handlebar lost off frame. I think it would've been more aeshetically pleasing to keep the bar and clutch in 6 to retain a symmetrical aspect.

The bike also looks like it's made of plastic. I'm not really familiar with streetfighter models, but I'm pretty sure they are metallic. I don't feel that the gleam of the paint has been captured due to the soft lighting.

That was just the expressions that he gave me. I have other photos with some different ones, but they didn't come out very well as far as composition or sharpness.

I shot 5 and 6 towards the end and my flashes ran out of battery so I couldn't reshoot them.

The bike has a matte finish and that's how it looks in real life. It's not a shiny paint job, and it is made out of plastic to begin with, so that's the way it's supposed to be.

Overall not bad but I have to say that I would like to see more light in his eyes they seem like dark sockets here.

I had the lights up too high. I pretty much left them in the configuration for shooting bike only, aside from adding an umbrella to one. I'm going to try and see if I can pull the eyes out in post a bit. Rookie mistake though. That's what practice is for.
