Need some help here guys. Looking to up grade I shoot a lot of low light bar type shots and some portrait work. The bar shots are usually moving shots which makes me lean toward the mkIII or the 7d. All suggestions welcome.

I have shot our Easter presentation 2 years in a row (low lights, colored lights, movement, etc), in 2009 with the MKIII and in 2010 with the 7D. You can look through these if you would like, all ISO 3200, 6400 and 12800. The lighting was more difficult in 2010, as our AV guy decided to mix things up a bit. Doing portraits, depending on your glass, could end up being your deciding factor, although, again, all 3 work well provided you have good glass, and from your signature, you certainly do. The 7D is the only one that you can use the 17-55 on though, something to consider if you like that lens. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

MKIII: http://teamspeed.smugmug.com …483_S3JGi#791849449_dWv35 vs 7D: http://teamspeed.smugmug.com …112_dgHoM#831889484_rG9Q4 My personal summary is that they are both very, very close in performance, the MKIII gave me a bit more latitude or forgiveness in exposure than the 7D, giving it the edge because of the ability to salvage the content more often. But then again the 7D is no slouch, when you nail it. Here is a sample 6400 from the 7D, its noise characteristics allow for easy cleanup. ![]() This is very close to what i do . Those are some very nice shots. 7D\\G10

No reason to spend the extra money there. If I were doing a lot of low light stuff, I'd go 5D. The only reason I don't have a 5 now is because I shoot so much sports. my site (very outdated at this point)
