Looks like I'll be taking a flight in the Canadian Heritage Warplane Museum's Avro Lancaster Bomber next summer, so excited! I bid on a year's membership and a ride in the Lanc at a charity auction and won.

Along with a DSLR I'm thinking I'll strap a HeroPro HD video camera to my head and video the ride as I see it. Can't wait :D

I'm going to ask a photographer friend if he'l; come out and document it from the ground, complimented by video. It will be quite amazing, I expect.

I'm insanely jealous as well... :(

I was going to ask if you'd seen the video until I notice you were the one who posted the link... :D

One of my friends managed to blag a flight in the UK Battle of Britain Memorial Flight one a few years back - to say I was jealous would be the ultimate understatement!

Is it wrong to think about knocking your mate out so you can take his place?

I should add that he is in the ATC as a pilot officer.

No need to knock out your mate, all you have to do is fly across the pond to Hamilton, ON buy a CHWM membership, add-on the Bomber Flight and you're in the Lanc flying pas the CN Tower!

Good for you!

I'm going to ask a photographer friend if he'l; come out and document it from the ground, complimented by video.

Good idea. I missed this thread when it was first posted last year. It's never too early to start planning, so find two other friends to do the same thing.

Thanks, I'll see if I can encourage a couple more folks to come out and capture it. Any local Hamiltonians want to come out for the festivities? ;)

I'm in a total love affair with this warbird. I can't put my finger on what makes me get all goosebumpy when I see her but she's a true work of aviation art. For Christmas I picked up my husband **cough "me" cough** a DVD of the Lancaster produced for the CHWM. It tours you around the plane with commentary from one of the pilots. A very interesting watch and just what was needed to build more anticipation.

This flight will require me to pick up a 7D or 5DmkII for the in-flight video capture ;)

I was strolling the streets last summer when the Lancaster visted Calgary. It did a couple circles of downtown and took off back towards the airport, but I was lucky enough to be suprised by it and the thunderous roar it makes cruising around. Although, this is nothing close to what your experience will be, so enjoy and post pics!

I can only imagine what a squadron of those would have sounded like...
