Ah, I c. I was at the NPPL Las Vegas shooting so I am always interested to see if I met any paintball folks online, I use to play competitively, but I just play for fun now =)

I think there are quite a few lens mounts that convert just with an adapter...

M42, OM, Nikkor, T2, adaptall, leica M... if you need a wide angle lens, I would look to Keh or eBay to see if there are any cheaper older mount lenses =)

how about something wide and fast?

The problem is that wide on a crop is wider than 20mm. There were never any FF options that were that wide and fast. If there were, they certainly wouldn't be cheap.

28 thru 300mm primes are common and should be easy to find for a good price that are relatively fast. wider or longer than that, and they get rare to non-existent.

Kiron makes a 28mm f2
and I think Nikon makes a 28 1.4 , Zeiss make a nice 28/2.8

and I think sigma makes a 20mm 1.8

Nikon also make a moderately fast (f/2) 28mm lens thats pretty good (goes for $350 on the used market). Its the Nikon 28mm f/2 AIS or AI.

28's not even a tiny bit wide on APS-C. It's a normal prime.
