You would turn the switch on the lens to MF. Too many good lens to name. Check Fred Miranda site where they do reviews and match to your finances.

Yes, definitely match the lens to your budget. It's easy to get caught up in "L" frenzy and watch you bank account dwindle as your credit card balance sky rockets! :-) What is the budget you have for a new lens? Are you looking for an all purpose walk around shoot everything lens? Or a specific tool for a certain style of photography? Remember, the more information you can give us, the better answers you will get from the forum.

Welcome to the forum,
David

Welcome to the forums and congratulations with your new camera, have fun!

About lenses: which one is right for you depends on what kind of results you want. Do you want a tele or wide angle lens? A zoom or fixed focal length lens? Are you going to use it in low light, without a flash? If yes, then you'll want a lens with a large maximum aperture (low f-stop number), etc. So you'll probably have to learn and do some research before you can decide on what lens you want.

In the meantime, just use the lens that you got with the camera - it isn't a really terrible lens.
