I just got a Norman ML400 and the Norman softbox with the proper Norman adaptor ring. Has anyone else used this combination? You simply put the ring inside the softbox and mount the softbox/ring combo onto the flash housing. Correct? Mine has a large amount of play - is this normal? The softbox doesn't fall off the flash but am I missing something? The softbox didn't come with any instructions, although it seemed straightforward and the pieces would only fit one way. I've previously always used umbrellas which mount solid to the flash housing. I ordered this from Adorama which is closed on Saturdays so they're no help. Thus any help is appreciated.

Picture would be nice to see.

Does your speedring has the screws to tighten the speedring insert to the speedring?

The speedring on the softbox does have four screws but the ring that mounts to the flash doesn't have any holes. The softbox simply hangs between the flare of the ring and the face of the flash. Flops around like a loose bracelet on a womans wrist.

I got it Bobby. The four screws came on the wrong side of the speedring. I put them on the outside and they pinch the two rings together nice and tight. Simple fix. Thanks for your reply - it got me to take a second look at all the pieces and figure it out.

If you need any more help with this let me know and I'll have our Norman buyer contact the rep.

Thanks for the offer Helen but the problem is fixed. Your company has always been very courteous and helpful in the past. It would have helped if there was an instruction sheet with the softbox, but that's a Norman issue. I would have called them Monday and solved the problem. Great light however.
