I like the original best. The background is "softer".

I personally prefer the first one over the original

I don't know how to explain it, but i like the first one better than the original

I would have preferred to have seen the whole section of grass ie camera in portrait mode although I do like the effect achieved.

Guess it depends on what look you're after. My first impression is that I prefer the first; more dramatic.

My first impression is WEEDS! The images are well executed and the post processing is quite good but to what end? Is this something you would hang on your wall in say a 24x36?

Not sure if its a "hang on the wall" picture, I'm thinking of putting it in a calendar.

The colors in the original are much more natural looking, and the bokeh isn't as harsh as that of the processed version. Unfortunately, not much beyond that. From a compositional standpoint, the top has been cropped off, the main stalk is OOF as well as parts of the head, either due to a too shallow DOF or movement from a breeze. Your choice to put in a calendar or not, but I'd do a re-shoot.

I like the first one, but thats because the effect gives a high contrast to the weed buds, and as a result creating a more poping texture which attracts the eyes, the original one has smooth bokeh but its flatter on the texture,
also, the first image puts the weed buds in a much more darker color than the background, unlike the original image which makes it look as if it blends with the background in terms of color, so it also contributes to the sense of flatness,

easy picking for me, i go with the 1st one

This is how I felt.

Good image and I like the 1st one better, but just an OK picture to me - because of the boring subject matter. I'd also have kept the entire top weed instead of cropping the top off.
