I went to the start of a classic car run this morning. I took Teresa, as she is now forgiven for loosing my POTN strap. I was busy running around taking pictures when I spotted her in the background (blue coat) looking like she is practicing for the oldest profession in the world :D. Well they do say all the nice girls like a sailor ;).

That's a great image in many aspects. So many things going on and so much things to ponder about. You pointed out your wife in the back, being approached by a guy. But keep looking. The guy in the car, what relation does he have with the lady with the flag? That lady, she looks like a hoot, what is she doing there with the flag? The man behind the car, why his face? And the boys behind the lady, one looks too serious and the other one looks like he's way to young... looks like he might have dressed up and tried to blend in... and in that case, why?

Fun image over all!!

This was the start of the Masonic Classic Car Run which is an annual charity event where classic cars from many different counties head for the Royal Masonic Girls School in Rickmansworth. This was the departure from the car park behind the Leicester Masonic Hall. The benefiting charity this year is the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. The run was waved off by The Lady Gretton JP who is Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire.(and possibly a hoot  )

I love it... it's so surreal that it could almost be posed that way instead of actually a capture "on the fly". And I'm sure Lady grettong JP is a hoot... she looks like a fun lady. :D

Don't tell your wife what you posted here, Neil. It is a cool photograph but I don't think your wife looks like she is doing anything more than having a smile exchange with the young man :):) I really like all the subject matter going on in this one photograph.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Still smarting :o.

Not sure of the year of the MGB but the roadster was a wonderful car, I never owned one but I used to work part time at a garage that sold them. I took my driving test in a MG Midget (not bad considering that I am 6'6").

I had a bug-eye Sprite for a while. I always felt a bit vulnerable in it when playing Keep Away with large American Sedans (SUVs were not a phenomenon back then)

I do believe the lady with the flag plays lead role in
"Keeping up appearances" - correct?

You are wrong but on the other hand sooooooo right.

Patricia Rutledge could have based Hyacinth Bucket on her. She is, in fact The Lady Gretton JP The Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire

The Hyacinth Bucket website is here http://kuacentral.com/ (external link)

The Lord-Lieutenants is here http://www.leics.gov.uk …ieutenancy_lieutenant.htm (external link)

Have a look and compare….

Neil - Thanks for ALL the information. Unfortunately, I think Hyacinth is better recognized over here. By the way - for those that don't know - it's pronounced "Bouquet".

It was the car that was meant to be bug-eyed, not the driver

Neil - Belmondo does not have bug-eyes. It is rumored that antenaes have been spotted though.
