Sorry to be blunt, but this just isn't working for me. Cutting the subject's head off leaves me wondering what the point of the image is. If you were going for a portrait of the shooter, perhaps a vertical orientation would work better - the ground and fence pull attention away from the subject.

The crop really doesn't work, I feel like the focus point is supposed to be his ass with this..if that's what it's supposed to be it's all cool, I don't judge, but you don't mention it in the post ;)

I thought cropping the head out and part of the legs made the viewer focus on the middle drawing them to the gun in hand, the stance of the person and the protruding veins. I found for me it gave the feeling of rawness and mystery. The whiteness in the middle draws the viewer through the image.

Maybe you were just drawn to his arse SnapShot Photos because of your sexual preference? You however dont mention that you're a homosexual in your profile so who knows

Thanks for your comments anyway.

If you don't like an honest critique, maybe you shouldn't post in the critique forum. Insulting the reviewer (and no, using a 'smiley' doesn't excuse it) is pretty poor taste, IMO. It'd be best if most people seeking comment would state their intent behind the image in the original post...this would remove any doubt from those providing a critique and would guide them to give the best feedback.

I guess you thought wrong, or maybe you thought this because there is so much detail in the gun?

I found for me it gave the feeling of rawness and mystery.

I find for me it gives the feeling of a snap shot that someone tried to salvage through poor PP

The whiteness in the middle draws the viewer through the image.

The whiteness in the middle is distracting at best, only slightly less distracting than your use of vignetting.

Cutting off the head in this particular photo doesn't work - the vignette may have detracted from the subject, IMO. I like the tone though.

i dont agree with the critique in the image, i rather agree with the OPs reasoning of why he likes it. perhaps because im from texas and a scene like that is common to the region

however, theres just no need in this forum for that kind of response to criticism

At least you can give some rationale to the shot and pose but I don't think you needed to crop out anything here that made me focus on anything else. Indeed, it just makes me think of that something is missing...the head. It makes it less personal perhaps but at the expense of a better composed photo. Might also be better to place the subject to the right a bit or perhaps a profile orientation showing just the subject.

This is the Critique Corner. You shared what "feeling" it gave you but be prepared to accept what others feel when they view a potentially controversial subject....especially non Texans apparently.

I happen to enjoy the crop because hunting is the story line not who is hunting. And we get a sense of who without intimate knowing of this exact person. An artist can present the story by including and excluding elements to force focus. Clearly that is the case here.

This bit is BS. The need to reduce someone is a sign of insecurity no matter what tone you took when stating it. That same can be said for anyone who posts an image or reviews one. You can't gloss over in humor or bluntly dismiss criticism. Been there. There are some folks here who are rigidly fixed in their point of view. I've learned to let them be even if I completely disagree with their assessment of the image in question; mine or other.

Ok thanks all for your comments,

I apologize for suggesting SnapShot what I suggested but I solely did it cause I felt he suggested the same thing about me, obviously completely subtle though.
