The 60D is my first DSLR with video and the first time I have tried to use video in any semi-serious way.
One impression I have is that the choice of formats to use is quite limited... I thought there would be more freedom to mix different frame sizes and frame rates. For example, if I use a small frame size I have to use a high frame rate, which means I can't get a brighter exposure by using a slower shutter speed. But I appreciate the need to stick with accepted standards and conventions.
Anyway, there is the 640x480 crop mode which is great for astrophotography (where the targets are small and we want all the detail we can get).
Given that the camera can do 1280x720 at a high frame rate and 1920x1080 at a normal frame rate, is there any reason why it couldn't do a 1280x720 and a 1920x1080 crop mode at the same frame rates? Just using that sized area from the middle of the sensor... that would be great for imaging larger features on the moon.
