Recently I haven't had a lot of luck getting answers to LR questions but perhaps someone knows the answer to this one.

I always try to learn as many keyboard shortcuts as possible and I've gotten pretty good.

In LR2 I could enter the crop mode using the R key and then cmd-right arrow (Mac OS) to move to the next image while staying in the crop mode. I could also use the X key to mark the image as rejected without leaving the crop mode.

I found that in LR3 the crop mode works the same but if I use the X key it no longer marks the image as rejected. In crop mode the X key will invert the aspect ratio from vertical to horizontal and vice versa and the only way for me to mark the images as rejected is to leave the crop mode and use the X key.

Is there another or new keyboard shortcut that will allow me to mark an image as rejected while in crop mode without interrupting the workflow?

SHIFT + X

Sorry, that's not doing it. Shift-X is doing the same thing as X does.

It inverts the aspect ratio.

Also, I just checked a few other combinations. Option -X does nothing. Shift-X, Cmd-X and Contrl-X all invert the aspect ratio.

I just found this:

Apparently I'm not the only one that noticed and is missing this function. Bad move on Adobe's part.

If that's the case then it's even more stupid than I thought. The concept has always been to maintain the same functionality between platforms, so to have a function stop working on Mac OS and to continue working in Windows is just plain dumb.

I also checked for updates. I have 3.2 and according to the update function, I have the most current version.

The Release Candidate does not show up in Updates since its not an official release; you have to download it from the Adobe Labs website: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom3-3/ (external link)

I just downloaded the Mac OS version of 3.3 RC1...

No go. It's all the same. It doesn't work with the Mac version.

Sorry I can't be of more help but Shift + X certainly works here. Hopefully Victoria Bampton will see this thread or you can try posting on the Lightroom Support forum.

From everything I'm reading and seeing in forums and blogs, it appears they just didn't make that feature available in the Mac version.

Thanks for your help. It's not your fault that Adobe made a bonehead move. ;)
