I am tired of fixing the vignetting using the Z pro holder ( I like to use a screw on nd in front of the holder most of the time ) and I am thinking of switching to the X holder. Anyone using this holder. I was also wondering if the X size Cokin filters are any better than the 100mm's as far as color cast when stacked. I took a peak at the new Lee 150 holder but the price is more than I am thinking about?

Thanks

Why not just change over the to the Lee Foundation Kit holder? Granted, they're tough to find at times, but you can use the same filters that you already have. You'd also need the wide angle adapter ring, which pretty much assures that you won't have any vignetting, even at 17mm on FF with all three filter slots in place. The extra large filters, as well as the much larger holder, aren't really necessary IMO.

I was thinking of that option but I am not sure if I would avoid vignetting with the Lee holder even with the wide angle adapter, since I usually place a screw on nd in front of the holder. I would like to be able to shoot at 10mm with one screw on filter and maybe two gnd without problems.

I use Lee with two filter slots and with a wide angle adapter ring screwed on to a round UV-filter. At 16mm (FF) which is "the same" as 10mm on your 40D and I get no vignetting at all.

When you say you screw a ND in front, I guess you mean behind? If so, you are fine with Lee, but you might aswell get a Lee ND for more flexibility...

Also, Lee has the best filters when it comes to being really NEUTRAL density, so it's a win-win situation for you here :)

Thanks for your advise argyle and viktor; I should of went with the Lee foundation in the first place but I got a nice price on the Cokin z on this site and at that time I never thought I would trade my 17-40 for the 10-22. PS yes; by in front I meant before attaching the holder.
