A would seriously not get an old crt. AFAIK they need to be calibrated a LOT more regularly, as the screen drifts. They're huge, heavy, and use a lot of power. After using LCDs they'd look pretty weird too.
Heavy? Yes, but you'd only be lifting it twice in your life - once to put it on the desk, and again to throw it away when it's dead. You can't be that lazy.
Power Hungry? No. In fact, my LCD uses more power than it does, even when displaying a full white screen. And other than color calibrations (which are equal to what you'd do on an LCD), you only need to calibrate it once every 5 years. Again, it's not much to ask for.
I know you're probably thinking of how bad your old CRTs used to be, but remember: your old monitors were probably hunks of $50 junk. Just like LCDs have huge differences in quality, so do CRTs. And this CRT happens to be one of the best ever made. In fact, you'd have to spend over $1000 on an LCD to get the same image quality (and that's only for still images!). It's like me saying that all LCDs are junk just because I used some crappy eMachines monitor that I got for free.
And no matter how you slice it, all but the worst CRTs are superior for gaming.
